Fixing low battery life on Iphone 4

Did you out of a sudden noticed that your Iphone's battery doesn't last as long as it used to?

I just recently noticed that after charging my Iphone 4 in the morning it would barely make it through the end of the day. Considering that I'm not a hardcore phone user and it used to holdup easily 2 days, I thought there's something wrong with it. I tried completely turning off the phone. Guess what, the phone would not turn off, instead it would restart few seconds after attempting to turning it off.

I started looking at the phone's bottom dock-connector closely and noticed that it had a lot of dust collected inside. To reduce the risk of damaging the phone (since I could not turn it off) I disconnected the battery. Apple finally managed to design the casing so it is very easy to open it. You can find many articles online about how to disconnect battery. For the tool I used tooth pick that turned out to be perfect for the job.

At first it didn't seem like there's a lot of dust in there but when I actually started digging it out I was shocked to see how much I could get out. After cleaning the dock-connector I tried to turn off the phone again and it worked perfectly this time. The phone would turn off and actually stay off!

I left the phone charging for a couple hours and the next day the battery was holding its charge the same way it used to before.

REMEBER. YOU DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK.

If you attempt cleaning your Iphone's dock-connector, pay close attention to the circuit board in the middle. Try not to touch it, scrape it or put any pressure onto it. It is possible to damage your phone permanently by damaging copper tracks on the circuit board. If you know what you're doing, good luck, if you don't - take it to professional.
